A RESIDENT has spoken of her disgust after a youth kicked the wing mirror off her car during a late-night vandalism spree.

A group of about nine youths were captured on CCTV as they walked along Meadoway, Church, in the early hours of Sunday deliberately knocking the wing mirrors off a total of nine cars. One youth can be seen taking a run up and high kicking at a mirror knocking it clean off the vehicle.

Sue Rees and her husband David came out of their home on Sunday morning to discover that both of their family cars had been vandalised.

The couple managed to fit the mirror back on to Sue's Ford Focus but the mirror from Dave's 27-year-old Reliant Scimitar had been completely destroyed.

Sue said: "The CCTV shows a yob 'Cantona' kicking the wing mirror off the car. The problem for people like ourselves is it is not worth claiming on your insurance so you have to find the money to repair the damage yourself. My mirror is fixed but the mirror from my husband's car was kicked into the street and somebody has driven over it.

"The whole street has been affected. When you see the tape it really is shocking. Such perverse pleasure has been taken from it. It's just mindless and selfish."

Police believe that the group including rowdy teenage girls struck between 1am and 1.10am on Saturday.

Sergeant Alan Nicol said: "There were nine vehicles affected and each one had a wing mirror kicked off. There was no other damage to the vehicles. They have obviously just gone by and kicked off all of the mirrors. We would be keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, who may have witnessed anything."
