A man needed surgery after he was subjected to an unprovoked attack in an Accrington pub.

The 47-year-old's teeth were pushed into the back of his mouth following the attack in the Grey Horse on Whalley Road at 9.15pm on Sunday, May 26.

DS Julie Cross, of Accrington CID, said she is appealing for information.

She added: "The male has a cut to his head and has a fractured cheekbone. A 24- year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and released on bail pending further enquiries. We are appealing for anybody who may have been in the pub at the time of the incident and witnessed the assault to come forward and contact us on 101."
