Budding media students from a Rishton high school were treated to a visit to the Sky News HQ studios.

Year 10 students from Norden High School were invited to the news and sports studios in London.

While there the youngsters got the chance to quiz their main entertainment producer about the broadcaster’s recent Oscars ceremony coverage.

They also spoke with the channel’s founder member and television presenter Kay Burley about her role and career to date.

They youngsters were also treated to a full tour of the entire Sky News and Sky Sports News HQ studios.

Claire Munroe, marketing officer of Norden High School, said the day was thoroughly enjoyable for all the students and opened their eyes to the endless possibilities of careers in the media.

She added: “Part of the day involved the students producing their own news commentary on celebrity culture at the prestigious Sky Skills Academy, where they were responsible for the writing, presenting, filming and editing of their news report.

“The finished product is something to be proud of.”
