Two new entrants have been unveiled for this month’s Accrington Carnival Queen contest - with just days left to enter.

Students Molly Greenwood, 20, and Emma Duckett, 18, are both in the running to become Accrington’s 25th Carnival Queen in the carnival’s 50th anniversary year. There are now eight contenders for the big judging event on May 28.

Car fanatic Emma, from Accrington, enjoys motorsports, stockcar racing and go karting as well as dancing and cheerleading. She has blonde hair and green eyes.

Molly Greenwood, 20, is a law student from Oswaldtwistle. She has competed at a national level in horse riding, and has dark brown hair and green/blue eyes.

The Accrington Lions, who organise the competition which will be held at The Brooks Club, are still looking for more entrants.

The new Queen will be a judge in this year’s Carnival Princess competition and play a big role in the upcoming Accrington Carnival celebrations on June 13.
