An Accrington mum was astounded when she won a £1,000 lottery prize for the second time.

Joanne Gregory, 44, won on the East Lancashire Hospice’s weekly draw - after scooping an identical prize back in October 2013.

The mum-of-two, from Accrington, works in the pharmacy at Royal Blackburn Hospital and treated children Ellie, 12 and Robert, 8, to a share of the money from her first win. She said her latest windfall came as a complete surprise.

She said: “When I got the call it didn’t click at all that I might have won a lottery prize again. I have supported the hospice’s lottery for a long time and when my colleagues were winning small amounts here and there I even thought about checking my number was still in the draw each week.

"Then I won the first £1,000. But I really didn’t expect to win again. It’s come at a good time for us. I can treat the kids and it will pay for me to have some work done on my car as well as treating myself a little too.”

The lottery costs £1 a week with prizes of £1,000, £100 and 15 lots of £10. This week’s rollover prize in £8,250. To join call 01254 733416 or visit eastlancshospice.org.uk.
