A teacher has retired after 36 years of service.

Marie Pye joined Norden High School in Rishton in 1979 as a food teacher and was more recently the head of technology.

A presentation was held for Mrs Pye and led by chair of governors Elaine Lockwood who noted her ‘truly astonishing record’ of only five days sickness absence during her time at the school.

Another school governor involved in the ceremony was Denise Kelly who was in one of the first classes Mrs Pye taught at the school.

Claire Munroe, of Norden High School, said she will be ‘sadly missed’.
