Five special women who have experienced tragedy or shown bravery in the face of adversity have been rewarded with a special pamper day.

EyeBrow Envy in Clayton-le-Moors treated the women to manicures, massages, make up and hairups after they were nominated by members of the public.

The winners were Joanne Blackmore, from Accrington, Rachel Southward and Nicki Pendergrast, from Oswaldtwistle, Dawn Baron, from Blackburn, and Leanne Moir, from Darwen.

Nadiya Entwistle, of EyeBrow Envy, said: “A few months ago we asked the public to nominate the women in their lives that were deserving of some appreciation.

“The response we got was overwhelming and incredibly touching.

“These women have been through horrific ordeals and still remain a tower of strength to those around them.”

Mum-of-two Nicki and her husband Andy have been caring for their four-year-old daughter Jessica after she was diagnosed with stage four neuroblastoma.

After two lots of different chemotherapy she is now on a new clinical trial.

Rachel endured a ‘whirlwind’ 2015 after losing her ‘adored’ grandad, and supporting close family members through ill health.

Photographer Joanne tragically lost her premature daughter Kayleigh some years ago.

She now captures precious moments for families with terminally ill loved ones.

Racheal Hall, owner of EyeBrow Envy on Whalley Road, said: “We are in such a privileged position to be able to give back a bit, so arranging a pamper day for our amazing nominated ladies was the perfect platform.

“My team of self employed therapists and I were truly honoured to have been able to spoil these women and we were all so humbled and inspired by their individual stories.

“It makes our jobs so worthwhile and I’m grateful we had the opportunity.”

The stylists who volunteered their time with Rachael on the pamper day were Lyanne Sherwin, Stephanie Watson, Lucy Clarke, Niomi Lea, Samantha Allison and Donna Porter.

The five women also enjoyed a photoshoot by Amy Croasdale of Desire2Inspire Photography, a buffet and champagne.

The pamper day for the women was held on Sunday, April 10.
