Around 1,000 people visited Accrington Library for its first ever ‘Eid Bazaar’.
The event was organised by staff members Rakhsana Sarwar and Kauser Yaseen to coincide with the start of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Muslim calendar where strict fasting is observed from dawn to sunset.
The event included a wide range of stalls and children’s activities to appeal to all sections of the community, including fabrics, cakes, Henna painting, Asian jewellery, handbags, savoury food, Arabic calligraphy and a chocolate fountain.
Children also got the chance to take part in cupcake decorating, making their own Eid card and a lego design competition.
Katherine Walsh, library branch manager, said: “We had almost 1,000 people visit the library on Saturday and most of them did go to the Bazaar.
“We had a wide range of stalls and lots of fun for the kids including the logo competition.
“The competition was so successful we will be holding more of them during the school holidays.”
The event was held on Saturday, June 6.
