Construction and motoring students have celebrated their success at an annual awards night.

Accrington and Rossendale College held the ceremony at Accrington Town Hall, which was packed with family, friends and employers.

A total of 67 students from nine different trade areas received awards.

Organisers said it has become one of the college’s most prestigious awards evenings and was attended by principal Sue Taylor, Hyndburn Mayor Marlene Haworth, Rossendale Mayor Marilyn Procter as well as other Mayors and dignitaries from the Master Plumbers Association and Institute of Carpenters.

Phil Burgess, deputy head of construction and technology, said: “We have a great tradition of producing award winning construction workers that go on to have great careers.

“It’s fantastic to see so many highly skilled students in a wide range of trades receiving awards.

“The awards ceremony just seems to get better and better each year.”

Fellow staff member Paul Creig said: “The event planning began in March and with the assistance of other staff within college the evening proved to be another success.”
