Pupils from schools across Hyndburn have stormed to success at a county-wide sports competition.

Teams from across the borough brought home three medals after taking part in the SPAR Lancashire School Games county finals.

Pupils from St Christopher’s High School in Accrington claimed a silver medal in the tee-ball, a sport similar to baseball and softball, while Peel Park Primary pupils sprung to success and scooped a bronze medal in gymnastics.

Accrington Academy pupils also scored a medal, taking bronze in inclusive football.

Jane Johnson, school games organiser for Hyndburn, said: “There has been so much excitement and anticipation in the lead up to this year’s SPAR Lancashire School Games county finals, with all pupils eager to get their hands on a medal and make their district proud.

“As ever, there were some outstanding sporting displays and it was fantastic to see such a positive sporting spirit. I’d like to congratulate everyone who took part and all those who helped to make the county finals such a success.”

The event was also attended by Team GB and London 2012 athlete Chris McDermott.
