Youngsters 1st Clayton-le-Moors (All Saints) Scout group have enjoyed an ‘action-packed’ summer term.
Beavers, Cubs and Scouts paid several visits to Clitheroe Clitheroe Canoe Club in Chatburn and had a ‘fantastic time’ learning to paddle the twin-hulled open canoes around the lake, playing games and racing each other before jumping in off the pontoon to ‘finish the evening with a splash’.
Group leader Claire Rothwell said the Beavers were also visited Rapid Raptors Hawks and Owls and were able to ‘experience a Barn Owl landing on their hands’ as well as learning lots about birds of prey.
Cubs and Scouts took part in several climbs on both indoor climbing walls and an outdoor crag and also enjoyed an evening of archery.
The cubs were also taught skateboarding skills and, as part of The Promise Badge, Beavers visited Whalley Abbey and were shown around by the monks.
At the end of the term the Beavers celebrated with an annual water fight involving the leaders
Claire said: “We’re already looking forward to next term, with a group camp coming up at Bowley Scout Camp and a Christmas sleepover at Blackpool Tower Circus.”
