Police are warning residents that thieves have taken letters when two post boxes were stolen from Accrington.

A metal post box was stolen some time between 12noon on Tuesday, April 28 and 12noon on Wednesday, April 29 from a lamp post on Stevenson Street West, Accrington.

A second metal post box was taken from a lamppost located on the junction of Brown Street with Richmond Street in Accrington. This is thought to have happened some time between Saturday, May 9 and Monday, May 11.

PC Holden, of Blackburn Police, said: “We would like to speak to anyone with information about the theft of the three post boxes and anyone with information should contact us on 01254 353970. We believe that the thefts are linked and have extremely inconvenienced local residents as all the post boxes contained post.”

A small cast iron post box was also stolen at some time on Saturday, May 2 from a lamp post on Garsden Avenue, Blackburn. All three thefts are thought to be connected.
