A resident had a ‘lucky escape’ after a serious living room fire.

Two fire crews from Hyndburn were called to a house on St Hubert’s Road in Great Harwood and found a blaze involving an electricity metre box which had spread to the living room.

A Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “They extinguished the fire using a hosereel jets,

“The occupant had a lucky escape due to fitted working smoke alarms giving the occupant an early warning to the fire allowing them to exit the house and call 999.”

The incident happened at around 8.20am on Thursday, February 25.
