Victim lost testicle in attack

20/12/2007

A TEENAGER was warned he could face jail after repeatedly kicking a youth in the groin and shattering one of his testicles.

John Peter Kerr, 19, of Henry Street, Church, pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm at Burnley Crown Court following the incident which resulted in the 17-year-old victim having to have his testicle surgically removed.

At a previous hearing, Hyndburn magistrates had heard that the damaged testicle was in pieces inside a blood clot within the scrotum.

Kerr was bailed until 18 January for a pre-sentence report and was warned that all sentencing options would remain open. Recorder Stephen Killeen told him the fact he had asked for the report and had granted him bail was no indication of what the sentence would be.
