Development transforms area

7/ 5/2008

LUXURY apartments which have transformed a derelict area of Accrington go on sale this weekend.

The 55 one and two-bedroom Waterside Apartments are being advertised as “bringing city living to Hyndburn”.

They have been built behind the council‘s Scaitcliffe House headquarters, opposite the Globe Centre, by Barnfield Construction.

Barnfield is a one third partner in the owners, Globe Enterprises, along with Hyndburn Council and Stuart Nevison, who operate as the council’s regeneration arm and have taken no profits for the past 12 years.

The apartments are on sale for between £89,950 and £142,950.

The former overgrown site with a disused mining shaft has been landscaped and the derelict lodge redeveloped and restocked with fish, while the national cycle trail runs close by, creating an attractive environment.

A Globe Enterprises spokesman said: “We have consistently invested time and effort to be a successful and growing business while benefiting the people of Accrington.

“ While many developers have been throwing up overpriced apartments all over the country to cater for bulk investors, Waterside has been an expensive proiperty to build, feraturing first-class materials and design, with a view to selling directly to home owners.

“We believe that this signature building will be an attractive proposition for home owners long into the future.”

The grand opening is on Saturday from 10am to 5pm when three show apartments will be available to view.
