Tributes to man killed in crash tragedy

A GRANDFATHER aged 35 was killed when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car.

Scott Campbell, 35, of Stourton Street, Rishton, died on Saturday following the incident on Whalley Road, Great Harwood, near the Read Garden Centre at around 3.30pm.

Paramedics treated him at the scene for muliple injuries and he was taken by ambulance to the Royal Blackburn Hospital.

But he never regained consciousness.

Mr Campbell was heading towards Great Harwood when his bike collided wtih a silver Peugeot 306, was driven by a 43-year-old man who is thought to be from Hyndburn, travelling in the opposite direction.

Whalley Road was closed for much of Saturday afternoon in both directions, causing massive queues of traffic, while police carried out an investigation.

Sergeant Mick Young from the Road Policing Unit said: “We are investigating this tragic accident and I would appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle travelling in the area prior to the collision to contact us with any information they may have.”

The family of Mr Campbell were contacted by police shortly after the accident.

In a statement released by police they said: “Scott was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and friend. He was much loved and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.”
