Man in court over double stabbing

A MAN has been charged in connection with a suspected double stabbing in Great Harwood on Friday night, 9 May.

Two men had been seriously assaulted with suspected stab wounds in the disturbance, which broke out outside Pizza Dome, in Blackburn Road, at around 11.30pm.

Both men were transported to the Royal Blackburn Hospital with injuries described as serious but not life threatening by police.

Seven men, aged 18 to 22 from the Accrington, Great Harwood and Blackburn areas were initially arrested, but six of them were later released without charge.

Yaseran Ilyas, 25, of St Edmund Street, Great Harwood has been charged with two offences of section 18 wounding, and was due to appear before Hyndburn Magistrates later today (12 May).
