Parks up for prizes

THREE of Hyndburn’s parks have been awarded a prestigious green flag award.
The award, a national standard for quality parks and green spaces, recognised the country’s best run parks.
For the last three years Oakhill and Mercer Parks have met high standards set by the national judging panel.
This year the Council entered Gatty Park for the first time, and the recent improvements and the excellent work of people in the local community, the Probation Service and Prospects has paid off with Gatty Park getting Hyndburn’s third Green Flag.
