THE teenage mum who was hit over the head with a litre size vodka bottle is relieved justice has been done after her attacker Lisa Connor was sentenced to 40 months in prison.
Sasha Hastie, 19, of Victoria Street, Accrington, said after this week’s hearing: "I feel really happy she has been sent to prison and that justice has finally been served.
"Before she was sentenced everyone kept saying she would only get 18 months and with the time she has already served in prison I thought she would be out straight away.
"In a way I feel sorry for her because I am a mother too. She shouldn’t have done what she did but it must be hard being separated from her children.
"When she finally gets out I hope that will be the end of the matter.
"I am not sure how I would react if I saw her again. Hopefully our paths will never cross."
Sasha recalled she had been on a night out with friends when they were invited to a house party in nearby Countess Street.
While at the party she noticed the atmosphere changing and decided to go home.
As she got up to leave Connor followed her out of the house, accusing her of calling her names.
Once the pair were outside Connor hit Sasha over the head with a litre vodka bottle, causing her 11 separate wounds, which needed 59 stitches, before walking away and leaving her unconscious in the street.
She has been left with permanent scars to her face, back and arms, and will need cosmetic surgery on her arm.
Sasha, who has a 20-month-old daughter Courtney, is now trying to get her life back on track by starting a new job at Express Gifts in Church.
Detective Constable Tracey McMurdo said: "Although we are happy with the sentencing, we must not forget the scars Ms Hastie has been left with for life.
"She will have to see her injuries every time she looks into the mirror. I hope the sentence imposed goes some way to ease her pain and dissuades other offenders from committing similar crimes."
