Mum Kelly gives birth on the floor... again

IT WAS a case of hard luck and hard labour when mum Kelly Walsh found herself giving birth on the floor - for the second time.

The 24-year-old, who gave birth to her second son, Levi,on her mum's living room floor two years ago, had hoped her next baby would be born in the comfort of a hospital.

But there was no such luck when the mum-of-three gave birth to 7lb 3oz Kyle in her own living room.

"I couldn't believe it," said Kelly, who lives in Mill Street, Church, with husband Andrew, 33.

"We had to act really quickly when my waters broke because neither the paramedics nor midwife were here," she said.

"It was late at night and I felt terrible, I was being sick. I sat down on the laminate flooring and 10 minutes after my waters broke it was all over with.

"I kept thinking: 'This can't be happening again.'

"Andrew was brilliant," she added. "He phoned the hospital for instructions and really took charge.

"I was quite calm considering I was giving birth at home and without professional help.

"But we both panicked when he came out because he didn't make a sound.

"Andrew wiped his mouth and checked the airways and Kyle finally began to cry. We were so relieved."

Andrew said: "We're getting used to delivering the babies ourselves round here. Levi came out in 15 minutes.

"My mum and sister delivered him and had to release the umbilical cord from around his neck.

"Now I've done it. I still can't believe it."

The couple have another son, Dylan, four, who they said had a labour of three hours.

The couple joked: "We aren't planning on having any more. The babies are coming out faster each time, so we dread to think what could happen if we have another."
