Teen tearaway’s reign of terror ends in court

A TEENAGE tearaway from Church has been banned from entering the grounds of two schools and certain streets in Hyndburn.

Simon Baldwin, 17, has been named and shamed by police after he began a reign of terror two years ago in a small community.

The youth, who lives in Norfolk Grove, has been slapped with an anti social behaviour order on conviction for committing a burglary in his own street in March.

He also received a 12-month supervision order including three months Intensive Supervision and Surveillance, known as an ISSP.

The order prevents him from causing harassment, alarm or distress to any person, being in charge or in control of any dog in a public place and associating with Daniel Beardsworth, who has also received an ASBO.

Baldwin is also prevented from entering the grounds of Accrington's Moorhead High School and St Christopher's C of E High School and some adjacent streets off Whalley Road.

The order follows a lengthy probe by community beat managers PC Helen Dean and PC Lisa Evans, who presented the court with evidence and intelligence dating back two years, linking Baldwin to allegations of public disorder, criminal damage, intimidation of residents and causing trouble around schools, particularly at closing time.

Sergeant Bob Eaton, from Accrington Police, said: "This young man has been a constant source of trouble in this small community.

"An order of this nature gives the courts more options to send him down if and when he breaches it. He is now liable on conviction to a term of imprisonment of up to five years.

"Simon Baldwin has a simple choice. He can go straight, co-operate with his supervision order and get on with his life or he can put one foot wrong and run the risk of a custodial sentence.

"We need the public to keep letting us know what he is up to."

This little thug should sent into the army for six months or a year. That would soon teach him some discipline and respect. The parent(s) of this yob should be fined also. We don't need scum like that on our streets.
