Tasty fare at ninth Lancs food festival

VISITORS to Accrington Town Hall were given something to get their teeth into when it hosted the Lancashire Food Festival.

More than 4,000 people flocked to the event, now in its ninth year, to sample the mouth-watering array of food and drink on offer.

A selection of international treats were available in the Town Hall while the festival marquee outside featured local produce. There was also plenty on offer at the Haworth Art Gallery and Oswaldtwistle Mills.

Lancashire's own Philippa James took to the cookery theatre to wow the crowds with her culinary skills. She showed how to make a wholesome meal in minutes and demonstrated a range of speedy kid-friendly recipes.

There were tutored wine tasting sessions and visitors had the chance to enjoy old-fashioned Edwardian-style refreshments.

As well as the food and drink, there was music and dancing in Accrington town centre, featuring The Real Macaws, Amounderness Ladies Morris Dancers, Accrington Pipe Band, Singleton Cloggers, Saddleworth Clog and Garland Dancers, Clogaire and the Britannia Coconut Dancers.

The event was organised by Hyndburn Leisure Services with support from Made in Lancashire and Oswaldtwistle Mills.

A spokesman for Hyndburn Council said: "It was very successful and we have had good feedback from the stallholders, who were delighted with the number of people they got through."
