THREE mosaics based on schoolchildren's designs have been unveiled in Haworth Park in preparation for a commemorative event organised by the Baxenden Community Forum.
The mosaics, which depict scenes before, during and after the Battle of the Somme, were formally unveiled by the Mayor of Hyndburn, Councillor Mohammed Rahman.
They were made by professionals from schoolchildren's designs and will form the backdrop to the Baxenden Bash, which combined a fun day out with features to remember the Pals such as an exhibition of changes in nursing.
Forum members have co-ordinated a wide range of activities, as well as organising the mosaics with funding of £5,000 from the National Lottery Awards for All scheme.
