A Roman Catholic primary school is celebrating after an excellent report from its diocese.

Sacred Heart RC Primary School in Church was rated either good or outstanding in all seven areas following a Salford Diocese inspection last month.

The inspectors, who spent the day observing lessons and religious worship sessions, were particularly impressed with the quality of the school’s welfare provision, its welcoming atmosphere and its strong Catholic ethos, ranking it as outstanding in these three categories.

In the report, inspectors Jackie McNally and Diane Bohan said: “Sacred Heart is a good Catholic school where there is a commitment to developing each child academically, socially and spiritually.

“A positive and energetic atmosphere permeates every aspect of the school and this creates a secure and happy learning environment.

“The children are confident learners who are polite and welcoming.”

Sacred Heart Primary School has 230 pupils registered, 37 percent of whom come from Catholic families.

This is the second positive inspection result for the school in recent years, after it was rated as good by Ofsted last June.

Year Four class teacher Joanne Savage said: “Everyone at the school is very pleased with this result.

“We told all the children the result in assembly, and they were very excited.”
