‘Strange hieroglyphics’ in the town centre have been caused by street cleaning to remove chewing gum.

Kevin Horkin, Conservative candidate for Hyndburn MP, said people have been visiting his office on Union Street after being left ‘very confused’ by the marks on the pavement, wondering if they were some sort of art project.

Hyndburn council confirmed markings left outside the Town Hall and on Broadway are a result of power washing the areas in recent weeks to remove chewing gum.
