Vandals have damaged the window of an animal charity shop.

Staff at the Hyndburn Stray Dogs in Need (HSDiN) shop on Whalley Road in Accrington arrived at work on Friday, February 19 to find a glass panel at the side of the front door had been broken.

Manager Sue Wood said: “It must have happened sometime earlier in the morning and they have tried to smash on of the side panels next to the door.

“It hasn’t completely broken it but it has shattered it. They have not managed to get in and have gone on their merry way.

“It’s not the first time something like this has happened. Someone tried to break in just before Christmas.”

Sue said they have been left with a £100 bill to replace the window.

Lancashire Police confirmed the incident has been reported and no arrests have been made.

A spokesperson said: “We have had a report that someone has thrown something at the window causing it to crack.”

The charity is one of the leading pet rescue centres in Lancashire.
