A WEALTH of information about Hyndburn is now available at the click of a button.
Hyndburn residents are being invited to check out a new website after months of work setting it up.
The site, which is available by logging on to www.hyndburnlife.co.uk, offers a range of sections, forums, contact details, free e-mail and links to other websites. It also boasts tool kits to build your own sites and useful facts about the borough, its places and people.
The Observer's own website is contributing a news feed to the site, so you'll be able to catch up with the latest local headlines through Hyndburn Life too.
Hyndburn Council is spearheading the new site as part of its e-strategy in partnership with several other groups.
The project has received around £500,000 in European and SRB funding, and a further £150,000 from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister to turn it into a reality.
Hyndburn's e-envoy, Jane Law, said: "We envisaged much more than a traditional, passive gateway to information about the borough.
"Not only does our community portal contain rich, relevant and up-to-date content that aims to engage everyone, of all ages, who work in, live in and visit Hyndburn, it also provides the technical means for partners, community groups and businesses to create such content."
She added: "We wanted to help local businesses of all sizes to be more competitive by helping them develop their own highly professional online presence with secure payment and booking facilities if they wish."
