Danny Hothersall struck a vital 73 as Baxenden won a fourth successive game to stay top of the Houldsworth Ribblesdale League senior division.

Hothersall’s 54-ball innings enabled the 2009 champions to beat Earby by four wickets at Back Lane.

Craig Walton (75) and Ali Azmat (65) helped Earby to reach 198-4 in a game reduced to 35 overs.

But thanks to Hothersall, Baxenden got home with 13 balls to spare.

They lead the table by two points from Read, who are the only other team with four wins from four.

Salesbury won only four matches last season as they finished with the wooden spoon after their first season in the top flight.

However, they’ve already notched two wins, including a four-wicket success against Great Harwood at Ribchester Road. Professional Susantha Pradeep produced an all-round display.

He took 6-82 as Harwood made 164-9 in their 41 overs with Paul Houldsworth top scoring with 52.

Salesbury openers Will Cook and James Fletcher put on 66 for the first wicket to always make it hard work for Harwood and Pradeep’s unbeaten 67 ensured there was no late drama despite Stuart Maher chipping in with three middle-order wickets.

Oswaldtwistle Immanuel remain in fifth place despite a narrow 10-run loss to Ribblesdale Wanderers.

Gerard Metcalf took five wickets as Wanderers were all out for 123.

The chase was on but, at 78-7, they looked in deep trouble. Imran Abid (21) and Kurt Smithson (15) managed to close in on the total but they fell just short.
