ENFIELD Cricket Club are on the hunt for a new professional after Brandon Hiini was called up to the New Zealand squad for the Emerging Players tour.

The 26-year-old will leave England on 23 June and link up with the 14-man squad in Queensland.

Hiini is in his second season at Dill Hall Lane and has taken 15 wickets so far this season as Enfield lie in fifth place in the Lancashire League - and are keen to make a big impact at the top end of the table.

"It is gutting," said captain David Bracewell as Enfield have also made the quarter-finals of the Worsley Cup.

"It is a proud moment for him to be called up for his country but he is a bit sad about leaving as he could see what we wanted to do here this season.

"We have started well and he has been a big part of that but he can’t pass up an international call.

"I think the retirements in the New Zealand squad have pushed him up the order and his call-up falls smack-bang in the middle of our season.

"So we are on the look-out for a new pro for the second half of the season.

"We have a few irons in the fire and we don’t want to be dependent on a sub pro every week - that’s a nightmare.

"But good luck to Brandon - I am sure he will do well."
