Rishton chairman Alan Craven thought it was game over when leaders Lowerhouse needed two runs off the final two overs and 16-year-old Ali Sartaj dropped a catch.

He should have had more faith in his side who upset the form book by beating the leaders for a second straight win.

Abdul Bisoodwall had been the star of the Rishton innings with 77 in their 172 all out.

Lowerhouse had only lost two games all season and, with 11 overs to go, they needed 77 to win and looked in charge.

However once Chris Bleazard (58) was dismissed, the wickets tumbled with Chris Holt finishing on 5-76 and bowler Sartaj denying Lowerhouse the all-important two runs with four balls left.

Enfield were also involved in a thrilling finale against Colne, winning by just one wicket as Colne slipped to the bottom.

Horsfield pro Mansoor Amjad hit 92 not out in their 163-5 before Enfield paid man Werner Coetsee’s 47 and a quick-fire 33 from Saggy Hussain made it tight.

Needing 21, Adam Bracewell’s side had plenty of overs – but only two wickets left – but 11 from Chris Maudsley helped them seal the win.
