It's derby time at league leaders Enfield as Rishton are the visitors to Dill Hall Lane aiming to knock them off top spot tomorrow.

Rishton have had home sickness this season but on their travels they have gained six of their eight wins and also are better performers on Saturdays than Sundays so the pacesetters face a tough battle.

Enfield held their place at the top of the Lancashire League last weekend as they got an element of revenge over East Lancs.

The Blackburn side knocked Enfield out of the Worsley Cup in an epic match but Sunday’s clash was over quickly, mainly thanks to the conditions.

East Lancs struggled to 59 in just 27.2 overs with Werner Coetsee, who starred sub-proing for Rochdale the day before in the Central Lancashire League with 81 and 7-40, again doing well.

He took 5-26 while David Bracewell, who has rediscovered his form with the ball, finished on 4-13. South African Coetsee top-scored with 31 but Enfield’s nails were being bitten at 47-5 before captain Adam Bramwell finished with a flurry – with two sixes and a four – to clinch a five-wicket win for the leaders.

But chasers Lowerhouse also took all 12 points on offer to keep the pressure on the Hyndburn pacesetters.

Defending champions Lowerhouse got the better of Church with the two due to meet again on Sunday in the Worsley Cup final.

Church were quicky in trouble at 2-39 as Darwen pro Shaun De Kock, filling in for Lowerhouse with regular paid man Francois Haasbroek injured, ended with bowling figures of 6-31. Craig Fergusson top scored with 37 for the West End side in their 124 all out.

Despite professional Saeed Anwar taking 3-40, Lowerhouse passed the target with seven wickets to spare to dent Church’s title hopes.

Church will be fully focused on Sunday’s Cup final but first they tackle East Lancs at Blackburn Road tomorrow.

Rishton were involved in a tight low-scoring clash with Haslingden and will be disappointed they didn’t come away with a win in a four-run loss.

Haslingden batted first and made just 84 with Rishton pro Daniel Salpietro finishing on 4-19 as Haslingden only used 36.4 of their overs.

Rishton must have thought they were in with a superb chance but 1-21 became 4-32 as the wickets fell.

Luke McVarish’s 16 closed in on Haslingden’s score and a late 14 from Garth Wyse threatened before the wickets ran out.

Accrington will be gutted as they chalked up the biggest score of the day in 242-5, with sub pro Imad Wasim hitting 116 and Aijaz Shah 58 before the heavens opened and their clash ended with Ramsbottom on 52-1, with Acre Bottom pro Pieter Malan out.

Accrington, whose professional Ashar Zaidi returns tomorrow after missing last Sunday’s clash, host Nelson as they look to close the gap on the top four.
