A new sponsorship deal with a prominent Ribble Valley law firm will be anything but a brief encounter for the Ribblesdale Cricket League.

Houldsworth Solicitors, who have offices in Clitheroe and Whalley, have replaced Veka as the League’s new backers.

And the firm, founded in 1817 by solicitor Henry Hall, have a agreed a three-year deal.

Ribblesdale League Chairman Brian Woodhead said: "We are extremely pleased that such a high profile name in the Ribble Valley has chosen to be associated with us.

"I look forward to three good years and to working with the Houldsworth partners, John Houldsworth and Amanda Hall."

Meanwhile, the League is advertising for a new club in readiness for the 2011 campaign.

Burnley Grammar School Old Boys will fold at the end of the new season.

Any club interested in the vacancy, providing they have their own ground and can field two teams, should apply to League Secretary, Ron Walton at 84 Chestnut Avenue, Euxton, Chorley, PR 7 6 BS.
