Dynamic duo get Hyndburn off to a flyer

BEN Swindells and Daniel Metcalf amassed an amazing 282-run partnership as Hyndburn under 15’s began the year in style with a convincing win over Blackpool at Rishton on Friday.
Winning the toss and electing to bat Hyndburn found themselves in a bit of trouble, losing both openers early on with the Blackpool bowlers getting a lot of movement with the ball.
This brought captain Daniel, of Oswaldtwistle Immanuel, to the crease where he was joined by Baxenden’s Ben after Hassan Ali Fazal was caught behind with the score on 21-3.
The two batsmen set about the Blackpool bowling and soon had their fielders chasing the ball to all parts of the ground, Metcalf blasting 137 off 103 balls before he was bowled with the score on 303.
Swindells smashed 150 off a mere 94 balls including three sixes, before being caught shortly before declaring on 326.
The Hyndburn bowlers soon had the Blackpool batsmen on the back foot with Hamzah Aslam running out opener Elgee with the total on just four.
The rest of the wickets were shared between the bowlers with Aaron Khan and Ben each getting two and tight fielding helping to dismiss Blackpool for 155 and complete a comprehensive 171-run victory with a good all round performance.
