Great Harwood Cricket Club have snapped up all-rounder Tiaan Cloete for the 2013 Ribblesdale League season.
The 23-year-old South African – who represents the Boland state side – is a left-hand batsman and slow left-arm bowler who is coming to England for the first time as an overseas professional cricket and coach.
Tiaan, established himself in the Boland side, bats in the middle order and has two centuries and three fifties to his name, with a highest score of 121.
Tiaan’s left-arm spin is now being used more regularly and the 20-plus wickets he has so far have come at the respectable average of 29.
Harwood chairman Russell Whalley said: “We were delighted to secure Tiaan’s services in front of a number of other interested parties. Tiaan is a different player to recent professionals at Great Harwood and we hope that he will work with our existing coaching staff and players to develop all aspects of the club, on and off the field.
“We would like to thank Cric-intro for their assistance in bringing Tiaan to the Cliffe for the 2013 season.”
He replaces Syed Shahabuddin as the paid man.
GREAT Harwood Cricket Club is also holding its AGM on 12 February at 7.30pm at the club. There are many items on the agenda including the proposals for the continued development of the playing facilities at the club.
OSWALDTWISTLE Immanuel have appointed Jon Baldwin as their new captain for the 2013 season.
