Aiming to be pitch perfect

9/ 5/2008

STANLEY will be once again be investing a five figure sum on their pitch under new groundsman Martin Cook.

The club spent around £5000 on it last year but, next week, more will be spent as it will be drained with around 80 tonnes of sand and soil added to the surface.

It will then be seeded, fertilised and left to grow for three or four weeks.

"Hopefully it will be like Wembley next season," joked chairman Eric Whalley.

Former groundsman Gary Lewis left a few weeks ago with the best wishes of the club.
