Coley fury

JOHN Coleman says he is sick of Accrington Stanley’s name getting dragged through the mud as the Football Association investigate their clash with Bury in a match-fixing probe.

Irregular amounts of money were bet on a Bury win last Saturday in the final match of the season with some bookmakers halting betting on the League Two clash. Stanley lost the match 2-0.

Coleman said: "I know I have done nothing wrong and, as far as I am concerned, I can sleep easy. I just don’t like the club’s name being besmirched.

"It just seems that any opportunity there is to have a go at us, it happens. In the past you hear about unnamed teams being investigated but it is our name which seems to be dragged through the mud. I know on Saturday we tried to win. Anyone who watched the video will know that. But even then some people will think there is no smoke without fire and cast aspersions on us and it is wrong.

"I had to leave out a couple of players I was going to play on Saturday because of this investigation and it wasn't fair on them and it wasn’t fair on me having my team picked for me."

He added: "I just think that if ever there is a chance to try and have a pop at us people do.
