Accrington Stanley have been drawn at home to Cardiff City in the second round of the Capital One Cup.

Stanley earned their place in the draw after claiming a surprise away win against Middlesbrough on Tuesday night, coming from behind to beat the Championship outfit 2-1.

And the Reds have been rewarded with a tie against Premier League opposition, with Cardiff having won promotion to the top flight last season.

An away tie against a Premier League side would have been a bigger money-spinner for Stanley but with a bumper crowd expected at the Store First Stadium, it will still be a lucrative game for the club.

It will be the first meeting between Accrington and Cardiff, with the tie to be played the week beginning August 26.

The Reds play at home to Cheltenham in League Two on August 24 and also host Burton the following Friday, August 30.
