ACCRINGTON Stanley celebrated their first back to back wins since September to boost their bid to avoid the drop.

Following on from their win over Torquay last week, the Reds saw off long-term rivals Hereford who were promoted with Stanley last season from the Conference.

It was always comfortable with ex-Bulls striker David Brown, making a rare Stanley start, firing home the opening goal on 25 minutes with a 20-yard screamer.

Skipper Peter Cavanagh made it two after the break with his second free kick in two games.

Hereford rarely threatened with Liverpool loan defender Godwin Antwi a rock in defence for the second successive game.

The only blot was the 90th minute sending off of Brown for a late challenge which Stanley are going to appeal against.

"We played some terrific stuff," said Coleman. "They were two wonderful goals and it's like buses, you wait ages for one and then two wins come at once.

"But we are confident, when the referee looks at the sending off, that it will be wiped out."

The Reds are now geared up for their hearing in Preston on Friday when they faces charges, by the Football League, of playing two ineligible players. Manager John Coleman, chairman Eric Whalley and secretary Hannah Bailey will go before an Independent Disciplinary Committee.

"We have never meant to deceive anybody and we are confident justice will win out," added Coleman.
