ACCRINGTON Stanley boss John Coleman said it was the lowest he had felt as a manager after watching his side's play-off hopes take another knock with the draw against bottom club Northwich.
The Reds battled back from 1-0 down to take the lead and looked in charge until Steve Garvey's late strike denied them a vital three points.
"I am sick to the stomach, devastated. I want to crawl into a hole and hide but I am not like that," said the Reds chief. "I couldn't believe the chances we missed today. I don't know what it is in front of goal. The number of chances we missed from close range borders on embarrassing. I have been a goalscorer all my life and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. We have thrown away seven points in three weeks and it isn't good enough."
Steve Nicholas hit the crossbar with a 18 yard strike on seven minutes before Northwich took the lead when a Nicholas cross from the left wing found unmarked Chris Thompson who headed home. The Reds missed chances through Andy Gouck, Rory Prendergast and Paul Mullin before they were awarded a penalty after the break.
Stanley had had to change their formation when left back Steve Hollis hobbled off injured and they introduced Lee McEvilly to go three at the back and five in midfield. And he made a difference immediately when a one-two between McEvilly and Andy Gouck ended with Gouck being upended in the area by Shaun Cane on 59 minutes. Vics keeper Andy Woods guessed the right way for the penalty but Lutel James' effort squirmed under his body.
Four minutes later and Mullin and James set up Prendergast in the area and he headed into the empty net. It looked like a case of how many for the Reds with Mullin having an effort blocked, Gouck firing wide from 10 yards and Paul Cook testing Woods.
But Garvey broke 13 minutes from time and finished well. Mullin hit the crossbar late on to end a miserable day for the Reds.
