John Coleman has been nominated for Manager of the Month for December with three wins and a draw but faces stiff competition from Bradford’s Phil Parkinson.

Parkinson has the same league statistics and also an FA Cup victory in December. Port Vale’s Micky Adams and Cheltenham’s Mark Yates have also been nominated.

The Reds boss, though, admitted he wasn’t counting on winning the accolade.

"I am not bothered," said Coleman. "I have never won it in the league but it doesn’t concern me one bit.

"What concerns me is that every opportunity we have to pick up points we have got to take it."

Bryan Hughes is a hot prospect for the League Two Player of the Month.

The Stanley midfielder, who the Reds are in talks with about a more permanent deal than his current non-contract terms, has scored two goals and turned in a number of Man of the Match shows in December.

"We are still in talks with him and his agent at the moment and hoping to sort out a deal soon," said Reds chief executive Rob Heys.

The 35-year-old faces competition from Macclesfield keeper Jose Veiga, Crawley striker Matt Tubbs and Bradford defender Luke Oliver.

The results are announced this morning on Sky.
