STANLEY boss John Coleman felt it was in both parties’ interest to let striker Lee McEvilly go.

The 25-year-old has joined League Two rivals Rochdale, his former club, on a month’s loan until January with a view to signing until the end of the season.

McEvilly returned to the FES from Wrexham in the summer but hasn’t made a big impact.

"Lee wants to be playing regular football at his age so it was a good opportunity for him," said Coleman. "We have a call-back on him and he can’t play against us in the league games.

"We haven’t seen the best of him. We thought it might work out with him playing with Paul (Mullin) but that wasn’t the case.

"He has had one or two injuries which have set him back and he has struggled for fitness because of them. I know when he is on top of his game he has plenty of ability and is a handful for anyone."

Coleman hasn’t ruled out more of his players going out on loan with enquires believed to be made for a couple of players - including Cambridge in talks with Paul Carden.

"We have had enquiries but we will have to see what happens in the build up to the 5pm transfer deadline (on Thursday)."
