STANLEY defender Danny Ventre said the referee got it wrong after his sending off in the top of the table clash against Hereford.

The 20-year-old was shown a straight red for a hand ball and the Bulls were awarded a penalty which got them back into the game and they then scored a last ditch goal with the Reds down to ten men.

"I had my hands by my side," pleaded Ventre. "I hope they have got it on video as I was only three yards away and I couldn't get out of the way.

"I thought the referee would have thought about it but as soon as he ran over I knew what his decision was going to be. He made the decision so quickly.

"We were winning 2-0 at the time and I am gutted. I don't mind telling you I was crying. I haven't let the lads down but I feel like I have but, because of the referee, I feel like we have been robbed."

The former Liverpool schoolboy admitted he would learn from his mistakes.

"It all started when I won the ball in midfield. I took it down on my chest and then gave the ball away. I have to learn to put the ball back where it came from instead of trying to make little passes. I have certainly learnt a lesson the hard way.

"It was just so out of order and it is something I won't forget in a hurry."
