Stanley's new signing Nat Taylor admitted it was ‘breathtaking’ when he saw his name on a Stanley shirt.

The teenager has signed a six month contract at the Crown Ground after playing for Accrington and Rossendale Academy under former Reds’ coach Paul Lodge.

"I left college and I was going to go to University to do a sports-based degree," said winger Taylor. "I had been on trial at Bury and Scunthorpe and it hadn’t worked out.

"I had been told though I had potential so with positive people around me it has made me drive on and Paul Lodge recommended me to John Coleman. In pre-season, I just tried my best, giving 110 per cent every session and it’s paid off. I couldn’t believe it when I was offered a professional contract. I have been working for it for so many years.

"The college opened up doors for me as we got promoted to the Premier Performance College League and got to the semi-finals of the national college cup. I also got the chance to represent the county and England colleges."

The wideman made his Stanley debut coming on as a sub against Scunthorpe and now he is looking for a starting berth.

"Everyone is backing me 100 per cent. Just to get a kit bag and see my name on my shirt is breathtaking though. I have got six months to prove myself and I have got to do my best."

Boss John Coleman said: "Whenever you feel your job is getting you down or feel disappointed, the smile when I handed Nat his first contract – you can’t buy that and I know the lad will grab it with both hands."
