Stanley boss James Beattie made another addition to his squad on Monday as he signed striker George Bowerman.

The 21-year-old was released by League One Walsall in the summer and has joined the Reds until the end of the season.

Bowerman scored 11 goals in 59 appearances for Walsall, although he started just 15 of those games.

“George has scored goals in League One so we’re pleased to have him on board,” said Beattie.

“Hopefully he can add some firepower to the strike force, his movement is excellent and he passes the ball into the net.

“He’s very precise with his finishing and very rarely blasts the ball.

“He shows the composure and quality in front of goal that we have been lacking in recent weeks.”

Bowerman played two games in the Conference for Woking this season and has recently trained with Scottish Premiership side St Johnstone.

Beattie claims he had better offers elsewhere but felt Stanley were the right fit.

“He wants to help us climb up the table and we welcome him into the squad,” added the Reds’ boss. “Hopefully he can start producing for us.”

Bowerman was an unused substitute for Tuesday night’s win over Bristol Rovers.

His arrival puts the number of players in Accy’s first-team squad up to 26, which includes four loan signings – Marcus Bettinelli, Michael Richardson, James Caton and Kayode Odejayi.
