Portuguese star Nuno Gomes could grace the Crown Ground in Blackburn’s double header tomorrow.

Rovers face Blue Square Bet Premier champions Fleetwood at 12pm at Accrington’s ground followed by Stanley against another Blackburn XI at 3pm.

Striker Gomes, 36, has signed a two-year deal at the Championship side bringing him to play in the English league for the first time.

"We are all excited about playing against someone of Nuno Gomes’ calibre," said Reds boss Paul Cook.

"It should be a really good atmosphere for the two games.

"For us, it will be interesting to see Fleetwood’s team and their new signings and to test ourselves against a Championship side."

It’s believed Blackburn boss Steve Kean will bring a bodyguard to Ewood Park, and that Great Harwood’s David Dunn will feature at some point. Rovers also now have Danny Murphy, Leon Best and Fabio Nunes in their ranks.

Tickets for the Fleetwood/Blackburn/Stanley games are priced at £10 for adult and £5 for concessions which cover both games.

Stanley’s Capital One Cup tie with Carlisle United has been switched from Tuesday 14 August to Saturday 11 August and will now kick off at 3pm at Brunton Park.

This move has been made to allow both sides to have maximum preparation time for the start of the Football League season the following weekend.

The scheduled friendly with Bolton has now been provisionally pencilled infor Monday 13 August, subject to confirmation by both clubs.
