STANLEY striker Andy Mangan has apologised to all the fans following his sending off live on Sky in Saturday's win over Grays.

The young forward was booked for a challenge and then kicked the ball away and was shown a second yellow card and a red. The 19-year-old had only been on the pitch for six minutes but, in that time, had made the winning goal.

"I want to say sorry to all the fans. It was a rush of blood and I shouldn't have done it," said the youngster. "I knocked the ball and chipped it to the keeper but the keeper left it and so it looked worse. But still it was my own fault and I let all my team mates down. In the end, I was just relieved we won."

Team-mate Gary Roberts has backed Mangan: "Andy has had a bit of bad luck getting sent off. He had played a big part by setting up the winning goal and he is the most confident lad in the game and I am sure he will bounce back."

The Reds have considered appealing.
