ST JOSEPHS: The Under 14s beat Wilpshire Wanderers 3-1. The first half saw some excellent passing football but lacked any goals. Then the Saints went 1-0 down straight after the re-start but MOTM Bryn Hargreaves converted three chances in true striker style to get his hat-trick and the Saint’s victory.

The Under 11s advanced to the next round of the cup with a win over Clayton Park Rangers 5-0. The Saints played some good attacking football and secured an early lead through Ben Evans. George Gibson quickly added another to give the Saints a two goal advantage at the break. Brad Savage, Jack Kerans and Ciaran Berry all scored in the second half to ease the Saints through to the next round. Declan Southward was MOTM.

On Sunday, the Under 11s played their part in a pulsating clash against Padiham Saints. Both sides went all out for the win but it was St Josephs who were creating the better chances. The game, however, looked like it was heading for a draw until Declan Southward’s pinpoint cross found an umarked Devon Booth who smashed the ball home to secure the points. Isaac Fielding was MOTM.

CHURCH: The Under 10s had suffered a  heavy away defeat to Wilpshire last week and were determined to turn things around.  Church could not turn their dominance into goals and Pendle broke and scored. Church legs started to tire after the break and they ended up losing 3-0. MOTM was captain Daniel Fitton.

OSSY RANGERS: The Under eights played well despite losing 2-1 against Fenny Reccers. Ethan Charlesworth was named MOTM with Alfie Cook on the scoresheet.   It was another good weekend for the Under 12s beating Ossy FC 4-2 with goals from Sam Cook, Daniel Leech, Isaac Archer and Jack Edgar. This was followed up by another victory on Sunday beating Lammack 4-1. Sam Cook, Daniel Leech, Bryn Potter and Dane Winter scored the goals.

BLACKBURN, DARWEN AND HYNDBURN JYFL: In the Under 14 Inter-League semi-final BDHJYFL won 7-2 against Wigan and District Youth League to reach the final. Marcus Carver and John Riley  got two each with Matt Harper,  Matt Challoner and Tom Davidson also on the scoresheet.  They will face Blackpool and District Youth league in the final.

 This Sunday, the Under 18s are in semi-final action, away to the South Lancashire Counties League.

RISHTON UNITED: In Sunday’s North Valley League, the Under eights Red won 2-0 against Brierfield Celtic Red with goals from Kian McKenna and Martin Wood.

The Under 10s lost 4-0 to Pendle Forest Black with MOTM Patrick McGreggor.

 The Under 11s won 2-0 against Brierfield Celtic White for their first away win of the season. Rishton dominated the first half with Jake Smith opening the scoring.  In the second half, it was a much more open game but Jake Smith notched his second.  Nathan Oldham was Rishton’s MOTM.

 In the Blackburn, Darwen and Hyndburn JFYL, the Under 14s drew 1-1 with Haslingden. MOTM was Raffe Harris.

 In Saturday’s Training 2000 Accrington and District League, the Under nines won 2-1 against Haslingden. Bradley Bodie and Joel Davies got on the score sheet and Sam Shorrock pulled off a fine penalty save.

 The Under 10s lost 3-0 to table topping Accrington Stanley while the Under 11s won 2-0 against Clitheroe Wolves Red for their ninth successive win.  It was a game Rishton had to win as Clitheroe were sevenpoints clear at the top although fellow title chasers Rishton have a game in hand.  Rishton keeper Sean Kelly was strong in the first half as it ended goalless.

 In the second half, Rishton deserved a goal and got one through Charlie Feeney.  They got the second from the penalty spot. Ryan Cothliff was brought down and MOTM Keiran Higham did the business.

The second placed Under 12s won 5-4 at top of the table Pendle Forest to avenge last week’s defeat. Goalscorers were Liam Haworth, Declan Bryom and a hat-trick from Referee’s MOTM Kegan Dobson. Rishton did lead 5-2 but Pendle hit back twice to make it a nervous last few minutes.

 The Under 13s lost 9-1 at Burnley United while the Under 14s Blue were 5-0 winners over Brierfield Celtic.  Kyle Driver opened the scoring while Liam Mcnulty made it two at half-time. Jonathan Whittam was on target after the break before left back Ryan Grady scored a superb solo goal - his first goal in five years for the club.  Hassan Akhtar completed the scoring with Rishton’s MOTM Jonathan Whittam.

 The second placed Under 15s were 6-0 winners over Borrowdale United. Sam Yates (two),  Lewis Crichton,  Ben Cross, Corey Slater and Jim Williamson found the net.

KNUZDEN YOUTH: The Under 16s paid the price for a poor defensive mistake which cost them two points against Haslingden in the Training 2000 Accrington and District League. Knuzden had battled back from two goals down at half time to take a 3-2 lead near the end of the game before the late error made it 3-3. Knuzden goal scorers were Ben Carolan, Nathan Davis and Jamie McKay. Knuzden’s MOTM was midfielder Adam Hughes.

HUNCOAT UNITED: Huncoat's Badgers were unlucky to lose 2-1 against Great Harwood Rovers, Lewis Eccles got the goal while Jack Beech was MOTM.

Saturday’s Under nine’s beat Church 6-0, thanks to a hat-trick from MOTM Henry Hindle, two from Ryan McLean and one from Lewis Yates. Referee’s MOTM was Dylan Liddle.

Sunday’s Under nines Allstars had another good win, beating Blackburn Shamrock 9-2 with a hat-trick from Jack Beech and two each from Taylor Harris, Callum Savage and two from MOTM Kean De Gouveia.

The Under 11s White drew 1-1 with Akzo Yellow, Kiko Binns got the goal while Chris Dwyer was MOTM.

 The Under 11s Red won 4-0 against Readstone United, thanks to a goal each from Tom Neil, Zac Bannan, Brandon Read and one from MOTM Spencer Harris.

 The Under 11s Allstars lost 2-0 against Baxenden Villa with MOTM Elliott Battle.

 The Under 12s had another good win, beating Clitheroe Wolves 2-0 while Saturday’s Under 14s also enjoyed victory, overcoming Pendle Forest 1-0, thanks to a Jake Crabtree goal. MOTM was Elliott Neil while Referee’s was Bradley Herbert.

Sunday’s Under 14s beat Blackburn Utd 13-0. MOTM Jake Crabtree scored four goals, Josh Lishman grabbed two and there was one each for Elliott Neil, Ryan Pearson, Andy Eaton, Jake Whitehead, Jake Fairweather, Andy Webster and Bradley Herbert. Referee’s MOTM was Josh Coo.

The Under 15s beat Wilpshire Wanderers 4-0 with Jason Thompson, John Parker, Jake Howarth and MOTM Tom Briggs on target. Ben Taylor was the Referee’s MOTM.

ACCRNIGTON LADIES ‘91: Still depleted by injuries, AL91 lost to Rochdale 4-0. Accrington started well but did not put away their chances and a strong Rochdale side took the spoils. AL91 Player of the Match was defender Ally O’Donnell.
