IN ATROCIOUS conditions, with a strong gusty wind blowing rain down the pitch, Rishton United and Barnoldswick Town Under 16’s fought out a valiant 0-0 draw.

Kicking with the wind behind them Rishton pushed on in the first half but were restricted to a handful of half chances. The second half saw a role reversal as Barnoldswick pushed on, but again the defences won the battle.

The Under 7’s competed in a new monthly four-team competition organised by Burnley Borough Council at the Turf Moor Leisure Centre. In Rishton’s first game against Danehouse, two goals from Callum Campbell and a third by Evan O’Carroll gave Rishton a 3-1 win.

The second game was against Barrowford and a reshuffled Rishton went down 5-0. In the final game against Padiham, Rishton held a one-goal lead after a great goal by Alexander Braysford, only for Padiham to equalise towards the end of the game.
