Macclesfield Town were inches away from their first win of the year but Accrington were able to hold out for a point.

Former Stanley striker Craig Lindfield latched onto a long clearance and slipped clear of the Reds' defence but returning keeper Ian Dunbavin pushed his low shot onto the near post.

It was as close as the Silkmen came in a close encounter with few chances on offer, and play-off hopefuls Accrington will have been happier to come away with the draw.

Macc edged the clash overall but Accrington's Bobby Grant shot wide with only Jonny Brain to beat, while Ben Wright was guilty of firing high on the half-hour mark.

Both sides huffed and puffed but, aside from a goalmouth scramble that saw Lindfield crowded out shortly before the break, and another shot from Lindfield that Dunbavin was equal to, there was little to separate the two.
