PAUL MULLIN will go down in Accrington Stanley history for scoring the goal which secured the Reds a place back in the Football League.

The striker, who has been with the club for six years and has risen with them through the ranks, admitted: "It hasn't sunk in yet. I was due a tap in and although it wasn't my most spectacular goal, it was certainly my most memorable."

The Woking game was up and down for Mullin as he had the highs of scoring - and then he gave away a penalty with Rob Elliot denying Justin Richards twice as it was re-taken.

"It was a roller coaster game for me as we went one-up and I scored and then it was my hand ball and Rob saved my bacon twice and I will have to thank him for that.

"When he saved the penalty I knew it was our day and I was dead on my feet for the last five or ten minutes.

"I saw the crowd run on and knew my legs wouldn't take me to the dressing room! But I didn't want to come off the pitch. It is great to share the win with the fans who had made the long trip and I am sure they will remember it.

"Accrington are a great club with a great history who get a lot of attention and I think the lads deserve credit this season."

Mullin is hoping he can shake off a neck injury and play the final two games of the title winning campaign as he is desperate for one goal to take his tally in all competitions to 20.

"I have had a scan now and know what my neck injury is. It isn't an operation but just needs manipulation and exercise so that will be in the summer.

"It comes with the territory of heading too many balls but I did tell them not to put any balls to my head on Saturday!

"But I need one more for 20 goals in all competitions and I will be happy with that.

"Hopefully I will be able to get it tomorrow when we lift the trophy. There should be a great crowd on.

"I think we will start to believe we are in the Football League when we get the trophy as it does all seem a bit weird still at the moment.

"It has been a long season and there has been a lot of hard work and it will be great to get our hands on some silverware in front of a big crowd."

Mullin has seen many players come and go but admits he has been impressed this season.

"Rob Elliot has been fantastic and Darren Randolph before him. We haven't got the biggest squad and everyone has had to weigh in at some point.

"Gary (Roberts) and Ian (Craney) have got the goals and Browny (David Brown) has weighed in with some too and it is difficult to single out a particular player as everyone has played their part. It has been a real team effort.

"Gary Roberts has been the entertainer.

"I think he has been on Soccer AM's showboats a couple of times this season but I think everyone knows that trick now and he needs to find a new one!"
